Upcoming Hyundai Cars in 2015: Lofty Targets with ix25 and Elite i20 Cross

Korean auto major Hyundai is betting big on Indian market, after receiving an overwhelming response for its premium hatchback Elite i20. The company, which has had a checkered existence in the Indian market until now, is gearing up to expand its foothold in the country with its upcoming product line-up -- ix25 compact SUV, Elite i20 Cross and Hyundai Verna facelift.

Hyundai ix25 Compact SUV

Hyundai ix25, one of the most desired compact SUVs from the Korean maker is expected to reach Indian shores in 2015. The car, which made its debut at Beijing Motor Show 2014, is likely to boast 1.6 litre petrol and diesel units under the hood. In the international markets, the ix25 is sold with 1.6- and 2.0-liter petrol engines coupled to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions with choices of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

Likely to get a price tag in the range of ₹8-₹12 lakh, Hyundai's upcoming ix25 will take on the likes of popular SUVs Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio and Nissan Terrano in India.

Hyundai i20 Crossover

As the name indicates, Elite i20 Cross is the crossover based on Hyundai's popular brand Elite i20. The car, which is currently in the testing phase in India will possibly see the light of day in early 2015.

Engine wise, the new Elite i20 Cross is expected to pack the same engine of its smaller sibling elite i20. The current Elite i20 packs 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel motor. While the petrol engine churns out 83 PS of power and peak torque of 114 Nm, the diesel motor is tuned to generate 90 PS of power and peak torque of 220 Nm.

As for the styling, the Elite i20 cross is expected to get aluminium roof rails, new body claddings and different alloy wheels to give the crossover look. Once in hits the market, Elite i20 cross will be pinned to rival Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura and Volkswagen Polo Cross. Speaking of the price, expect the new Cross of Hyundai to price brackets of ₹8 lakh.

Hyundai Verna Facelift

Verna, one of the top selling models of Hyundai, is getting ready to receive a facelift in the country.The new avatar of Verna is likely to mark its entry in the Indian market in the first half of 2015. Expected to carry the true heritage of Verna, the facelift of the model is likely to pack the the same 1.4-litre diesel and petrol engines and 1.6-litre diesel and petrol engines under the hood, with a five-speed manual gearbox for petrol and a six-speed manual for diesel.

The Verna facelift is rumoured to get a price tag in the range of ₹7.30 lakh to ₹11.50 lakh and when launched the car will rival Honda City, VW Vento, and Maruti Ciaz in India.
