2015 Chevrolet Trax to start at $20,995

2015 Chevrolet Trax
Chevrolet has announced pricing information for the new Trax mini SUV, which will go on sale in January 2015. Based on the same platform as the Buick Encore, the Trax will start at $20,995 and will be powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-four engine making 134 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque, which will return 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. The 2015 Trax will be offered with front-wheel drive standard, while all-wheel drive will be a $1,500 option.

The 2015 Trax will be available in a total of three trim levels: LS, LT, and LT when it goes and sale, and will offer MyLink infotainment with a 7-inch touchscreen, remote keyless entry, a rearview camera, and a 60/40-split fold-flat rear seat as standard equipment. OnStar 4G LTE with a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, remote start, and Siri Eyes Free will also be on the menu as options when the Trax hits store shelves. SiriusXM will be an option, as will be an app-based navigation system.

We spent some time driving the Chevrolet Trax in the midrange LT trim a few months ago, and found it to be a solid performer in its segment. Our Trax was equipped with all-wheel drive, a cloth interior, manually adjustable seats, 16-inch aluminum wheels, and SiriusXM radio. Even though the Trax is tall and relatively short in length, it exhibited good road manners, and the 1.4-liter turbocharged Ecotec inline-four engine coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission was nicely geared and never indicated that it had to work very hard.
