Brammo launches fastest production electric motorcycle – 2014 Empulse


The German company Brammo has launched the 2014 Empulse electric motorcycle. It is an evolution of the highly acclaimed, award winning 2013 Empulse. According to German company Brammo, it is the world’s fastest electric motorcycle in serial production. Brammo Empulse has a claimed top speed of 176 km/h.
2014 Brammo Empulse
The 2014 Brammo Empulse is equipped with the unique water-cooled motor, six-speed gearbox. This electric motorcycle features a 3 kW on-board charger, which enables the batteries to charge rapidly. The electric bike owner can charge the battery from 20 percent to 80 percent in less than 2 hours. The Empulse comes with a J1772 charger coupler, which can be plugged into a standard household power outlet. The 2014 Empulse is 10 lbs lighter than the 2013 Empulse, this reduction in weight has resulted in improved performance and handling of the motorcycle plus this weight reduction has also increased the range of the bike.

The electric bike boasts groundbreaking IET integrated six-speed transmission and the Empulse is able to translate its 90 NM of electric motor torque to over 880 NM at the rear wheel. This amount of torque put this electric bike in the league of 650 cc segment bike in India. The 2014 Empulse electric bike also sports a tapered aluminium handlebar with oversized clamp diameter, which is manufactured by Accossato of Italy. The electric bike now rides on Continental SportAttack 2 tyres which are acknowledged as an all-round performer.

The new 2014 Empulse is equipped with the Brammo Power 15/90 battery packs which have been redesigned and are nickel plated. These battery packs add a distinctive and technical look to the bike’s profile. There is also a redesigned LCD dashboard on the bike, which displays loads of information including battery SOC (State-of-Charge), road speed, motor speed, odometer, energy use, gear position, battery status, estimated range and system status etc.

The lower body panel of the bike sports a white Brammo logo. The electric bikes are becoming quite popular across the world as they are eco-friendly and does not emit harmful gases. The 2014 Empulse is available in following colour options – True Blood Red, Eclipsed Black, Mailot Jaune Yellow and Neodymium Metallic Silver.
